Introduction 💡to Talking weight control🌵
Welcome to “Talking weight control”, where the focus will be on understanding why Lifestyle medicine 🌿is so important, to achieve this healthy living state🙏. This is all about you, and I am so glad for you and my other friends around the world 🌎to be here with me. Can we prepare for this very important journey 🛣 together to explore the contributions to weight control using Lifestyle Medicine? Because it really is about your ability to experience the highest optimum level of well-being, so you can flourish in all areas of your life. Of course, you don’t take this lightly. Being able to experience the highest levels of personal performance in our work, connection with families, friends or partner, to have high energy levels and be happy with the way we feel and look are just some of the reasons to focus on weight control.
So, let's get started. Weight control 🌵is important for us all. I would
like to ask your permission to continue discussing your weight, as you might
not be ready to at this stage. There is no hurry, just click follow us and turn
on notifications so you can come back anytime.
Well thank you for staying, it means a lot to me to connect with you directly on this matter. Whatever our weight is, I want you to consider this carefully. There is a room in Lifestyle Medicine to get better at accepting your present weight, whatever number that may be. But remember, it is a number 🔢, just a number. It does not describe who you are, your passions for life and the things you most enjoy in life. It doesn’t say anything about what you feel, your virtues or your challenges. But remember it is your personal starting point for considering weight control. Hey, I can tell you a little about myself and my weight when I felt it was not in control. Throughout my life I have seen my weight in many different places. As a 17-year-old I was pretty happy with my weight, as a 27 year old it seemed far too high and as a 40 year old and 50 year old it was a huge concern to me.
Now at 63 years old I would consider my weight is in control. How do I feel about this? Let me try to answer this. I feel more awake 😃, more interested in things happening around me, more comfortable with exercise 🏊🏽and the food 🫐 🥦 🫘 🍞 🥕 I eat, and certainly sleeping 💤😴better than I ever remember doing so in my life up till now. How did I achieve this? I will share this with you. It was by applying the Lifestyle Medicine pillars that I will teach you about over time. Simple? There are better ways of describing it. Fascinating and mind blowing? For sure. Why?
Because the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine see weight control as a vitally important place for every one of us to be in. There are no quick fix diets, but there are endlessly interesting lessons to learn about what we eat, how we eat and prepare the food, and by looking at the quality of what we choose to eat to understand exactly why we are eating it. And understanding the evidence - based medicine that lays at the foundation of our nutrition, the very food that makes our energy production possible in our daily living. But this is only the start of weight control. Whether the number attached to our weight is classified as overweight, underweight, obese or normal is a number that is very different for all of us.
How do we achieve weight control? It is necessary to address the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, which can be defined by the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) to be:
1.
Diet/Nutrition 🍲
2.
Physical Activity 🏃🏽
3.
Smoking Cessation 🚭
4.
Alcohol harm reduction🍷
5.
Sleep
💤 and Stress 🙃
6.
Social connection 🏃🏽🚣🏽 👫👯🏇🏽⛹🏽🏄🏽
I will break down even further to 9 lessons as below:

is a number 🔢, when you understand that
number, then we can move in the direction of the behavioral change that you
will share with us. As a Global community of like-minded individuals following
what we consider an important part of us flourishing and being an optimum
version of ourselves in the world, we shall share that power with our families,
friends, and communities. So please share this link with those you love and those
